Sometimes you have to make do

I am a huge fan of Oriental design and haven't used anything of this nature in my cards for a long time, this is the first card of many that I plan to make with Asian style embellishments. I am wanting to use more frames in my work but because I can't find any of the few die cuts that I own I am limited with the frames I can create, I find square frames are the easiest to work with as all I have to do is cut them out using my craft knife and metal ruler. I will eventually find my dies in the huge mess I call my craft room. I love the  CASE Study inspiration picture this week and so happy that I got to play along  at the last minute

For this card I used my recently purchased sakura digital image from Ginger World, Etsy. The layout was designed on photoshop, it is a simple black frame with a white square with the image of the sakura placed on top. I printed out the design with a couple of extra flowers. Using a craft knife and metal ruler I cut out the white square which I stuck to the middle of the card, I then stuck the black frame to fit perfectly around the white square with foam tape. The extra flowers I printed out were paper-pieced to the frame and added dimensional magic to the flowers to make them stand out. I am happy with the way this card turned out and I am  hoping to make a variety of cards using this method.

Whilst I can't deny that die cuts are a fantastic crafting resource, this card just goes to show that with a little bit of imagination and effort similar results can be obtained with simpler tools.

This card reminds me of a Japanese floral print dress I own. Such a beauty, and with that oriental flavour which is not easy to achieve at all.

Stunning...I love the color combo. Our cherry trees are just beginning to bloom, but it's also snowing, so this sort of feels like our current springtime! Hope you're doing well. Best, CG
