Sometimes you don't have to spend a fortune

The other day I was in my favourite paper crafts shop and I came across two of the nicest papers I have seen in a long time. I knew I had to get them as they had parasals and lanterns, two things I absolutely love. I am challenging myself to make cards that don't cost much and I am happy to say that the cards that I made out of this paper have cost me about $1.50 or even less, all I have done is used the paper as the main embellishment, I have cut out the lantern's and parasals and paper pieced them using self adhesive dimensional foam. I have purchased quite a lot of this paper and look forward to using them in future creations.

I just loved this sketch

I just loved this simple sketch and so had to play along. I recently purchased these pre coloured stamps
two peas in a bucket and this was the perfect sketch on which to use them. I placed the three stamps in a row, added the sentiment, a word in each image. I stamped the chipboard bird black and stuck to the card using self adhesive dimensional foam to add. I see this sketch becoming a favourite and I am sure I will use it again.

Today was my RDO and I got a lot done, from cleaning the house to making six box framed pictures to sell at Handmade Canberra. I was very lucky to pick up some box frames yesterday for $2.50 and $3.00, I will be going to stock up on these frames tomorrow, it's very rare to get such a fantastic deal.

Anyway, tomorrow is my birthday, the first birthday without my dad :(. My dad always looked forward to my birthday and always made it an awesome day for me. I have promised myself I won't cry tomorrow and will enjoy the day with my mum, husband and friends.

Sometimes we do such silly things

Today I got up not feeling well at all and I forgot that I have intolerance to codeine, I took two tablets that had codeine and I spent the whole day in bed extremely dizzy, anyway I have learnt my lesson and will be very careful with what I take from now on. It's a first for me to feel worse after taking pain killers.

This is another simple card that I have used making a new KennyK retro image. For this card I printed the image of the lady and the sentiment directly onto the cardstock. I cut the cardstock so that a part of her shoe, dress and hair is slightly off the page, I feel this adds some movement and dimension to the card. When I paper pieced the dress I stuck it on the cardstock so that the dress was slightly lifted, added the ribbon and bling to finish off. I am really happy with the way this card has turned out and it's another card that's quick and easy card to make, simple cards are pretty much all I can manage at the moment. I have been busy making stock for Handmade Canberra, I have added a new page where I am going to be adding the things I sell at the shop, you can check out the details here.

I just love the new KennyK images

As soon as I saw the new KennyK  retro images I knew I had to get them all. I just love these digital stamps that have old world charm with a modern twist. As you have all probably worked out by now I can't colour in and so I was happy that I could still use these stamps without attempting my dodgy colouring in. I feel that the black and white with a splash of red and a little bit of bling gives the card an elegant look. I am really happy with the overall design and can see myself using these stamps time and time again.

I am so looking forward to this weekend, it's the first day of spring on 1st September, it's unfortunately still freezing in Sydney, can't wait till it warms up.

Nothing like an old fashioned dial phone

I am always getting into trouble because I love anything  vintage, my husband always jokes with me that that I should move with the times but I love old music, clothes from the 50's and so on. I can't help myself I love anything with old world charm and so when I found this vintage digital telephone stamp I was extremely happy. The background  has been created in photoshop using the same stamp repeated in grey. I added the computer generated sentiment and the orange bling to lift the card. This card was  very quick to make and I think it's a nice card to just say hello :)

MP3's are not just to play music on

I am one of those people who can't do without an MP3, I have to listen to music on the train, when I am walking, cleaning the house and on the internet, I just can't do without it. Sometime ago I found this little wooden MP3 embellishment and just knew I had to buy it. I knew if would look great on a card so I got myself a few of them.

I kept this card simple focusing on the MP3 and the sentiment that has been computer generated, I used brightly coloured designed paper that I think goes well with the overall  theme of the card.

The Challenges I have included-
CAS-ual Fridays-square cards
Jackson's digital expressions-Anything goes, optional brads/eyelets

On cloud 9 that I was able to whip this card so quickly

hi everyone,
All I can say is that I am glad its nearly the end of the week, it's been another stressful week at work and I can't wait till the weekend. It's absolutely freezing in Sydney at the moment, I do enjoy the cold but I hate getting up in the morning on a cold day, I will have to get early tomorrow though to watch Usain Bolt run, I am sure I will warm  up after seeing him run and hopefully win :) :), love the guy.

This is a simple card that I have made. I absolutely loved the patterned paper and really didn't have to do too much with it. The sentiment is a rub-on, the bird a chipboard piece that I have stamped grey and the dimensional clouds have been cut out from the pp and stuck onto the card using self adhesive dimensional foam.

The challenges I have included-
