Valentine's day is just round the corner

This is a quirky Valentine's day card I made today. I have got a thing about black and red at the moment and all the Valentine's day cards that I have made are black and red, so much fun working with this colour combo. This card features one of my favourite digital images that I have had for a long time and not sure where I purchased it from. The designs on the dress and shirt have been digitally added and the red heart has been paper-pieced to the card.  So happy I got my brain into gear today and came up with a few Valentine's card designs.

A stylish pregnancy card

I have been asked to design more pregnancy themed cards for Handmade Canberra. I thought it was about time I designed a stylish pregnancy card and this is what I came up with. I got the wooden image made by Woodbeus on Etsy, the shop doesn't seem to exist anymore but they made some great pieces for me and so I will have a closer look to see if they are still around. I coloured in the wooden piece red with a permanent texta and printed the text directly onto the card. To finish the card off I added a diamante to the bag for some sparkle.

A modern romantic card

This is a fun and modern romantic card that I have made especially for Valentines day. I had to come up with a few designs for the card shop that I sell my cards at and I thought I would make a card that had a social media element to it which I am sure a lot of us can relate to. This card features a pixelated heart that has been printed directly onto the white cardstock and the you + me = like has been cut out and stuck to the card with dimensional foam to make the sentiment stand out. I love working with elements that feature in our everyday lives and I am so happy I was able to do so on this card.

It's the man of Steel: Superman!

Ever since a young child I have loved Superman. I so enjoy watching the old Christopher Reeve Superman movies. At last I have been able to do a tribute card to my favorite super hero and also I at last have a Birthday card appropriate for males although I am sure there are some women Superman fans who would appreciate this card as well.

For this card I used a free super hero blue background, the original colour was quite dark so I lightened it giving the background a more CAS look. The Superman image was purchased from Anything cards on Etsy. I printed the image so that the cape went over the edge of the card. I also printed the cape separately and paper-pieced it onto the original image so as to give the main image some movement. I really enjoyed making this card and glad I got the opportunity to share it with you.

My latest crafting craze, foiling is taking over my cards

I have recently discovered the joys of working with foil and I am absolutely loving this technique. I have always dreamed of printing in gold or metallic colours and at last I am able to do so and I can't believe how easy it is to do. I watched a few online tutorials of how to achieve foiled images with a laminator and images printed on a laser printer. If you don't already know about this technique and want to learn how to do it this tutorial by Jennifer Mcguire teaches you all that is needed to know to do gold foiling.

For this card I got the image of the stems and text printed at OfficeWorks as the image needs to be printed on a laser printer. I then transferred the foil onto the text as described in the tutorial. The flowers were punched out with my Christina Re flower punch onto which I added self-adhesive diamantes. I would definitely recommend this technique to anyone who wants to add a metallic look to their cards, I know I am addicted :)
